William Wittmeyer, CEO of eXS Inc., Chairman of SVCWireless

Mr. Wittmeyer has been active in telecommunication industry and technology investing since 1980. Initially he was with Exxon Enterprises and subsequently with W.R. Grace. Companies he invested in include: Intecom, Periphonics, N.E.T. Zoran, Microlinear, IXYS and UTStarcom.

Mr. Wittmeyer is the CEO of eXS Inc, a wireless access company that is focused on providing low cost broadband services in emerging markets, and the chief operating officer of Electronic Sensor Technologies Inc, a manufacturer of high speed gas chromatographs.

Mr Wittmeyer has a BS from the US Coast Guard Academy and an MBA from Columbia University.

Herb Chi, Partner, China Rock Capital Management

Herb Chi is a Managing Member of Chinarock Capital, a multi-strategy investment firm focusing on China with offices in San Francisco, Hong Kong and Shanghai.  Chinarock invests in both public and private companies.  Some of the private companies that were invested by the Chinarock team before they became public or acquired by public companies include Youku, Yingli, E-House, Allyes, etc.  Prior to Chinarock, Herb was a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley and a marketing executive at several communications equipment companies.  Earlier in his career, Herb worked in management consulting.  He has a BS in Engineering from Northwestern University with an MBA from Harvard Business School

Qiming Huang  

Qiming Huang,

President, Silicon Valley China Wireless Technology Association

Qiming is the president and board director of Silicon Valley China Wireless Technology Association.  She has been focusing on facilitating start-ups’ growth as well as bringing the mobile and wireless industries together between China and the United States.Meanwhile, Qiming is an active entrepreneur and technologist, leading product component design and management in a couple of pre-IPO companies in Silicon Valley. She is currently senior manager of product management at StrongMail, a social and email marketing company. Besides many years of experience in software and Internet service development, she is the primary inventor for three US patents and one China patent in the areas of mobile, RFID and Internet.

Previous to her current venture, she was the VP of Product Development at Tianya, a leading China Internet Company. Under her leadership, Tianya launched mobile applications for iOS, Android and Symbian platforms, enterprise marketing SaaS services, new Tianya Q&A and Group Discussion, recommendation engine and cloud computer framework.  She was recommended to the national Thousand Talent Program competition. In her early career, Qiming worked at Oracle US headquarters, as the Senior Principal Product Manager, Senior Development Manager, Business Development Manager, and Software Architect at the varied points of time, responsible for product management, partnership building and market development for the Oracle product lines of Wireless Server, RFID/Sensor Edge Server, and Application Integration Architecture.

 

Qiming received her Master in Computer Science from University of Texas at Austin, US, and her Bachelor in Computer Software from Nankai University, China.

Mark Cummings is the founder of enVia, a venture catalyst spun out of Stanford Research Institute. enVia launched three Venture backed start-up companies; Morphics aquired by Infineon, SkyCross currently a prefered supplier to Samsung and RFco. Mark is the principal inventor on the earliest patent granted on the use of reconfigurable logic for SDR. He chaired the Organizing Committee of the SDR Forum (an international industry association) and was its first Technical Committee Chair, and first Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Earlier in his career, Mark held technical, marketing, finance and management leadership positions in communications common carriers, large end users, and equipment manufacturers. He has played key roles in a number of large scale S/W projects, semiconductor, equipment, communication and services projects. He founded the Pocket Intelligence Program at SRI International (Stanford Research Institute). He helped found and sat on the Board of Directors of PCMCIA, and the Smart Card Industry Association. He was an early member of IEEE 802, a contributor to the X.25 standard and designed the first international X.25 network. He helped with the early organization of the San Francisco Apple Core, served on its Board of Directors and led the Assembly Language Programming Group.

Mark helped organize the first satellite pay cable network, HBO (Home Box Office) and the first digital broadcasting system (DBS / Lotus Signal), set the architecture for the next generation EFTS system for the US Federal Reserve System, and the architecture for the international banking system for Mitsui Bank. As an Assistant Professor of Computer Mediated Communications Systems at SFSU, his research focused on the role of communications and computing in national development where he developed the technique currently used to encode Chinese characters.

Mark holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Information Science at Tohoku University (Japan), and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business in Conjunction with the Moore School of Engineering and the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania. He has done post-graduate work at NYU, New School For Social Research, and Stanford University. He has published over 150 papers and articles on communications and computing and two book chapters on SDR technology currently used as college texts.

Ying Huang, PhD, Managing Partner, Mayton Cuperion LLC

As the world's leading expert in the area of database, dynamic workflow systems and enterprise application integration, Dr. Huang is the Managing Partner of Mayton Cuperion LLC.

Dr. Huang has over 15 years experience in database, workflow and enterprise application integration. He has held advanced development and management positions at Oracle, HP Labs, Vitria, and Akonite. In addition to his many years in the software industry, Dr. Huang spent 5 years in the telecommunications industry as a technical leader. As early as 1985, Dr. Huang was a member of team that received the prestige China National Science and Technology Advancement Second Class Honor Award. He has published more than 10 papers in the areas of database, workflow and enterprise application integration. From 1997 to 1998, Dr. Huang was chosen to represent HP in WfMC (workflow management coalition) standard activities.

Dr. Huang received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Florida and his BSEE degree from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications.

Dr. Geng Lin, CTO, Networking Business, Dell Inc.

In this role, Dr. Geng Lin has the overall responsibility for technology strategy, system architecture, product innovation, and partnership and acquisition of key technologies, for Dell's networking business worldwide. Before joining Dell, Dr. was the Chief Technology Officer of IBM Alliance at Cisco Systems where he was responsible for the technology strategy, innovation, and solution development of the joint Cisco-IBM solution portfolio worldwide. The Cisco-IBM Alliance delivers multi-billion dollar business revenues from a broad solution portfolio that covers data center virtualization and cloud computing, and video and rich media applications. Prior to Cisco, Dr. Lin served as Vice President of Software Applications at Netopia Inc., a Motorola company. Dr. Lin is a leading expert in communications networking and cloud computing, and is a frequent speaker at various conferences and industry tradeshows.

He received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Peking University and Ph.D. degree from University of British Columbia, all in Computer Science.

Ann is the global analytics development lead at CEO office of Oracle US. She is certified oracle business intelligence enterprise server architect. Her team provides programs to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and compliance in support of the organization's financial and tactical business objectives, provides business practices and processes, develops, communicates, and trains the organization on business practices and processes.

Ann has been with SVCWireless since 2006. Ann served as VP of Marketing, VP of Networking, VP of Financing  and EVP. Ann was also co-chaired 2010 annual conference. Ann has been contributed on building teams, coordinating teams internally and promoted value proposition and brand awareness of SVCWireless, enhanced influence of SVCWireless.

Ken Liew, Co-Founder and Managing Partner,

Ken is a seasoned telecoms professional with over 2 decades of experiences in wired PSTN, mobile, wireless infrastructures including core, radio access, and data networking systems.

Ken started his professional careers as a software design engineer in a small start up and a mid size company, developing applications for PSTN switches, in the areas of traffic metering and maintenance. Later he departed from software design and joined Ericsson PSTN Technical assistance Center as a TAC engineer. From there he participated in many different projects ranging from the introduction of STP/SS7 systems, ISDN, and IN intelligent network.

Later he departed from software design and joined Ericsson, spent time in both PSTN Systems and Radio Systems. From there he participated in many different projects ranging from the introduction of STP/SS7 systems, ISDN, IN intelligent network, IS-54, to IS 136 TDMA systems.

From 1998 to 2001, Ken accepted an international assignment to work in Ericsson Japan as a Field Support Manager, leading a team of radio specialist and mobile switching engineers to provide technical field services to PDC operators in Japan. Through his leadership and proactiveness, Japanese PDC networks attained the best in-service performance world wide of Ericsson installed base. At the peak of packet data introduction into the PDC networks, Ken was tasked to manage the technical support delivery during the deployment of Packet MSC nodes (PMSC), and built from the ground up a very successful support team staffed by local talents, resulting in reducing the dependency of expatriate engineers, achieving a significant service cost saving of hundred of thousand dollars each year!

Upon returning to the US from Japan with a stellar record, Ken moved into project management role, successfully executed and completed the TDMA expansions in LA with the installation and commissioning of a few thousand radios in both existing and new sites. Later Ken was hand picked by senior management to lead a national project team that upgraded the GSM to 2.5G EDGE network. At the same time, Ken assumed the additional role as a technical service delivery manager to  AT&T Wireless MMS system.

During the introduction of Cingular Wireless WCDMA network, Ken was a key contributor in the national project team to manage the software releases, configuration and deployment program that enabled Cingular Wireless to be the first operator to launch 3.5G HSDPA in N. America. The successful on time HSDPA launch by Cingular Wireless expanded Ericsson's market share to 60% from initial 40%.

An active member and a strong supporter of SVCWireless, Ken volunteered to serve 2 terms as VP Networking, was subsequently nominated and elected to serve as President in 2008. As a SVCWireless executive team member, Ken has the opportunity to meet Chinese delegations and leaders of companies on both sides of the pacific, establishing a strong business network of contacts in both China/APAC, and Silicon Valley.

A native of Singapore of Chinese cultural heritage, he speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese, and some Japanese. He receives his BSEE in Computer Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was also the first Ericsson employee to enroll and received an MBA Telecommunications Management degree from the University of Dallas in Texas.

Wen-Pai Lu  

Wen-Pai Lu, Ph.D., NNCNA, CISSP, GSEC, GIPS, GSNA, Cisco

Dr. Lu has over sixteen years experience in the Internetworking, wireless communications as well as network security.  He had been a principle consultant, project leader, technical leader, customer solutions manager, researcher and developer.  His expertise spans across both enterprises and service providers. 

Currently, Dr. Lu is a Solution Consultants in Cisco focusing on building solutions that leveraging network as the platform to integrate network services with business application to allow enterprises to run their business more efficiency.  He was responsible for developing service and solution creations that translate products and technologies into solution delivery for mobile service providers.  Dr. Lu was also responsible for developing Mobile Wireless Internet architecture and strategy for large enterprises where he led a team of engineers and architects   

Dr. Wen-Pai Lu is very active in many standard communities.  He had been very active in Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) developing mobile web services architecture and services.  In Mobile Wireless Internet Forum (MWIF), he oversaw the security activities in the Mobile Internet and leading the security task forces.  He also served as a co-chairman for the Proof of Concept (POC) and architecture working groups in MWIF and developing security solution for IP Radio Access Network (RAN) in all-IP mobile wireless network (4G and beyond).  He was the founder of the LAN Security Working Group (IEEE 802.10 SILS) developing security standard for IEEE 802 LANs and MANs and was serving as the editor for 802.10a.  He was also active in ATM Forum, Frame Relay Forum as well as FDDI (ANSI X3T5) standard group where he served as an ATM Forum Ambassador for LANE and MPOA. 

He has published over 16 technical papers in the technical journals as well as in the technical conferences with three distinct papers particularly published in the IEEE technical journals such as Transaction on Communications, and Transaction on Software Engineering.

Yuan Tian

Co-Founder and CTO of InnoTek Group (ITG)

Dr. Yuan Tian is the Co-Founder and CTO of InnoTek Group (ITG), a leading provider of Smart Parking Management system in China. An essential component of the future smart cities, ITG's solution provides unique value to municipal governments and drivers. A combination of wireless sensor network and mobile payment solutions, it not only helps to manage on-street parking resources effectively and efficiently, but also to eliminate traffic jam and reduce people's carbon footage with it LBS-based parking guidance service.

Prior to his venture at ITG, Dr. Tian took a senior research position at the Research and Technology Center North America of Robert Bosch Group (Bosch RTC). He played an important role at the Internet-of-Things domain in Bosch RTC, ranging from building security to tele-medicine. He also represented Bosch in IPSO Alliance to found the Smart Building Work Group and served as the Founding Chair.

Dr. Tian is the Chairman of SVCWireless China. Earlier before he returned to China, he served as the Chairman and President of SVCWireless to foster the communication and collaboration of the mobile/wireless industry across the Pacific. During his tenure with SVCWireless since 2006, he has been the driving force of the organization for strategy planning, team building, and strategic partnership.

Dr. Tian got his PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Ohio State University.

Jenny Wan-Mernyk

After spending over 20 years in software development, marketing and sales, Jenny left her full-time position in 2003 as the founder of C8, a B2B e-payment company, to focus on raising her two young children and devoting time to  community  service.  As the president of the East Palo Alto Rotary club, Jenny is  committed to promoting literacy for underserved children and eliminating hunger for seniors.  Jenny also has been working to help young companies grow into profitable businesses.  Her latest project is establishing trade schools for auto mechanics in China. She is an advisor to HuanXin, whose Golden Wallet is China’s first mobile payment solution.  Jenny is the Chairman for HwaShinChineseSchool, a non-profit Chinese school operating in Palo Alto, California.  She is also a board director for Silicon Valley - China Wireless Technology Association.

Jenny worked as the vice president of Product Management for CyberCash until 2000 responsible for  product integrations, as well as   defining product requirements for the mobile wallet product.  In 1998 Jenny joined the founder of Tellan Software (an e-payment start-up) to run marketing and sales with P & L responsibilities.  She delivered in 18 months over 140% increase in revenues while expanded net margin from 21% to 30%.  Improved business metrics led to the M & A deal  with CyberCash resulting over 7x of return to investors.

Prior to Tellan, Jenny held various senior level marketing and business development positions at VeriFone.  She was responsible for driving the company’s wireless product strategy, which included defining the product strategy for the industry’s first SMS/payment transaction gateway launched  in 1997 as a pilot project  in South Africa .

Jenny started her career in software development.  She spent a number of years working as a member of the development team in the electronic funds transfer product group at  Telemoney, later acquired by First Data Corporation.  She later worked as a freelance software developer for Sytek .    Jenny also worked at Ungermann Bass as a senior product manager for the TCP/IP product line.  She was Director of Product Marketing at Motorola Computer Group Business Systems Division, where she pioneered the  marketing of  RISC-based multi-user computers as network servers supporting PCs and Macs.   She defined SNMP requirements for Altair, Motorola's wireless LAN product line. She also spent a couple of years working as Director of Marketing and Sales for OAZ Communications, a manufacturer of network fax client and server solutions.

Jenny holds an MBA degree in Business Management.

David Xu, Vice Chairman – China Strategy and Development, Executive Advisor

David has been active in telecom/datacom industry since early 1990s, mostly in software architecture design and development and consulting for various flagship networking and telecommunications products, for both Fortune 100 companies in US and Canada, such as Cisco, Alcatel (Newbridge), Fujitsu Canada (DMR Consulting Group) and Nortel, as well as startups in Silicon Valley. Before that period, David actively participated in the planning, and design of China’s early Hospital Information Systems.

David is an active evangelist and technologist in innovation. His strong interests and expertise include internet/networking, 3G/4G cellular technology, mobile healthcare, internet of things, IT applications in healthcare, and broadband communications.

David started his executive role in SVCWireless as Vice President of Operations in 2006, and later served on various VP/EVP roles. David served as the SVCWireless president during 2010 – 2011, responsible for its strategy, planning, and execution. Under his leadership, the collaboration and partnerships between US and China in wireless and mobile industries was further strengthened, and the association successfully held its first ever 2-day annual conference in 2010. In addition, the SIGs were introduced for the first time into the organization’s executive structure in order to provide events with better quality, quantities and varieties.

David is currently serving as Vice Chairman, China Strategy and Development of SVCWireless, responsible for the strategy in the collaboration and cultural gap bridging between US and China wireless/mobile industries and companies.

David holds a Master degree of Computing Science from University of Alberta, Canada.

Elizabeth Chien-Hale

Ms. Chien-Hale is a U.S. attorney specializing in patent and other forms of intellectual property protection in the United States and abroad. She is the founder and director of an information-based non-profit organization Institute for Intellectual Property in Asia. She also serves as of counsel/US representative at Beijing Sanyou Intellectual Property.

Prior to consulting, she headed the patent practice at Baker & McKenzie’s Hong Kong office. She also worked for other law firms in Silicon Valley including Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and Fish & Richardson.

Ms. Chien-Hale has substantial technical knowledge in a variety of electrical and electro-mechanical arts, having drafted and prosecuted patent applications in telecommunication, software, wireless and Internet-enabled devices, language-based data processing, semiconductor processing and computer-related mechanical devices. She was also involved in a number of intellectual property litigation cases, including cases in the International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court, relating to patent infringements and trade secrets violation.

Ms. Chien-Hale has lectured and written, in both English and Chinese, on the topics of international intellectual property protection and the Chinese constitutional structure. She was a research scholar at the College of Law of the Peking University in 1995, and a visiting scholar at Intellectual Property Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2007. She is a registered patent attorney before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, licensed to practice in the states of California, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia. She is also admitted to the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court, and a British Solicitor. Her name has been included in the Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, and Who’s Who in the World.

Ms. Chien-Hale is also an active participant in the professional organizations. For the American Bar Association, she is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Furthermore, she currently co-chairs the Committee on International Patent Treaties and Laws for the Intellectual Property Law Section, and co-chairs the Joint Task Force between the Intellectual Property Law Section and the International Law Section on PRC Intellectual Property Laws Amendments. She is a co-chair of the Intellectual Property Law Interest Group and the vice-chair of the Pacific Rim Interest Group of the American Society of International Law. She is also the legal counselor of the Silicon Valley-China Wireless Technology Association.

Dr. Huang has over 15 years experience in database, workflow and enterprise application integration. He has held advanced development and management positions at Oracle, HP Labs, Vitria, and Akonite. In addition to his many years in the software industry, Dr. Huang spent 5 years in the telecommunications industry as a technical leader. As early as 1985, Dr. Huang was a member of team that received the prestige China National Science and Technology Advancement Second Class Honor Award. He has published more than 10 papers in the areas of database, workflow and enterprise application integration. From 1997 to 1998, Dr. Huang was chosen to represent HP in WfMC (workflow management coalition) standard activities.

Dr. Huang received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Florida and his BSEE degree from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications.

Isabel Ge Mahe, Vice President of iPhone Wireless Technology, Apple, Inc.

Isabel Ge Mahe is currently Vice President of iPhone Wireless Technology at Apple, Inc. Prior to that she was Vice President of Wireless Technology at Palm, Inc, where she built the wireless technology group at Palm from ground up and was instrumental in the design and successful launch of many generations of Palm smart phones.

She was born in P.R. China, moved to Canada as a teenager and came to US in 2000. She holds a BSEE and MSEE from Simon Fraser University as well as MBA from UC Berkeley.

Ken Liew, Co-Founder and Managing Partner,

Ken is a seasoned telecoms professional with over 2 decades of experiences in wired PSTN, mobile, wireless infrastructures including core, radio access, and data networking systems. 

Ken started his professional careers as a software design engineer in a small start up and a mid size company, developing applications for PSTN switches, in the areas of traffic metering and maintenance. Later he departed from software design and joined Ericsson PSTN Technical assistance Center as a TAC engineer. From there he participated in many different projects ranging from the introduction of STP/SS7 systems, ISDN, and IN intelligent network.

Later he departed from software design and joined Ericsson, spent time in both PSTN Systems and Radio Systems. From there he participated in many different projects ranging from the introduction of STP/SS7 systems, ISDN, IN intelligent network, IS-54, to IS 136 TDMA systems.

From 1998 to 2001, Ken accepted an international assignment to work in Ericsson Japan as a Field Support Manager, leading a team of radio specialist and mobile switching engineers to provide technical field services to PDC operators in Japan. Through his leadership and proactiveness, Japanese PDC networks attained the best in-service performance world wide of Ericsson installed base. At the peak of packet data introduction into the PDC networks, Ken was tasked to manage the technical support delivery during the deployment of Packet MSC nodes (PMSC), and built from the ground up a very successful support team staffed by local talents, resulting in reducing the dependency of expatriate engineers, achieving a significant service cost saving of hundred of thousand dollars each year!  

Upon returning to the US from Japan with a stellar record, Ken moved into project management role, successfully executed and completed the TDMA expansions in LA with the installation and commissioning of a few thousand radios in both existing and new sites. Later Ken was hand picked by senior management to lead a national project team that upgraded the GSM to 2.5G EDGE network. At the same time, Ken assumed the additional role as a technical service delivery manager to  AT&T Wireless MMS system.  

During the introduction of Cingular Wireless WCDMA network, Ken was a key contributor in the national project team to manage the software releases, configuration and deployment program that enabled Cingular Wireless to be the first operator to launch 3.5G HSDPA in N. America. The successful on time HSDPA launch by Cingular Wireless expanded Ericsson's market share to 60% from initial 40%.

An active member and a strong supporter of SVCWireless, Ken volunteered to serve 2 terms as VP Networking, was subsequently nominated and elected to serve as President in 2008. As a SVCWireless executive team member, Ken has the opportunity to meet Chinese delegations and leaders of companies on both sides of the pacific, establishing a strong business network of contacts in both China/APAC, and Silicon Valley.

A native of Singapore of Chinese cultural heritage, he speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese, and some Japanese. He receives his BSEE in computer engineering and computer science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was also the first Ericsson employee to enroll and received an MBA Telecommunications Management degree from the University of Dallas in Texas.

Wen-Pai Lu, Ph.D., NNCNA, CISSP, GSEC, GIPS, GSNA, Cisco


Dr. Lu has over sixteen years experience in the Internetworking, wireless communications as well as network security.  He had been a principle consultant, project leader, technical leader, customer solutions manager, researcher and developer.  His expertise spans across both enterprises and service providers. 

Currently, Dr. Lu is a Solution Consultants in Cisco focusing on building solutions that leveraging network as the platform to integrate network services with business application to allow enterprises to run their business more efficiency.  He was responsible for developing service and solution creations that translate products and technologies into solution delivery for mobile service providers.  Dr. Lu was also responsible for developing Mobile Wireless Internet architecture and strategy for large enterprises where he led a team of engineers and architects   

Dr. Wen-Pai Lu is very active in many standard communities.  He had been very active in Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) developing mobile web services architecture and services.  In Mobile Wireless Internet Forum (MWIF), he oversaw the security activities in the Mobile Internet and leading the security task forces.  He also served as a co-chairman for the Proof of Concept (POC) and architecture working groups in MWIF and developing security solution for IP Radio Access Network (RAN) in all-IP mobile wireless network (4G and beyond).  He was the founder of the LAN Security Working Group (IEEE 802.10 SILS) developing security standard for IEEE 802 LANs and MANs and was serving as the editor for 802.10a.  He was also active in ATM Forum, Frame Relay Forum as well as FDDI (ANSI X3T5) standard group where he served as an ATM Forum Ambassador for LANE and MPOA. 

He has published over 16 technical papers in the technical journals as well as in the technical conferences with three distinct papers particularly published in the IEEE technical journals such as Transaction on Communications, and Transaction on Software Engineering.

Yuan Tian, PhD, Chairman, SVCWireless

Yuan TianYuan has been with SVCWireless from 2006. Yuan has been the driving force of the organization for overall strategy planning, team building, and stragetic partnership establishment. Yuan co-chaired (2007) and chaired (2008) the last two SVCWireless annual conferences, which were widely recognized in the professional community. Yuan also helped to establish and maintain the alliance relationship between SVCWireless and its stragetic partners in China, which include all mobile carriers, as well as Radio Association of China, and China Mobile Communication Association (CMCA), the prime organizations in China's mobile wireless industry.

Yuan is the Founding Chair of Smart Building WG of IPSO Alliance. IPSO Alliance is committed to promote communication over IP for smart objects, a key aspect to guarantee the success of Internet-of-Things. IPSO Alliance membership includes Bosch, Cisco, Google, Intel, NI, UC Berkeley etc.

Yuan also takes senior research position in the Research and Technology Center of Robert Bosch Group, where he is responsible for new business and technology development in low power, high reliability wireless communication systems. He was one of the main contributors of the first Bosch wireless security system, and is now responsible for several new business and system development activities.


Yuan earned his Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Ohio State University, and M.S. and B.Sc. from Zhejiang University, China.

Jenny Wan-Mernyk

After spending over 20 years in software development, marketing and sales, Jenny left her full-time position in 2003 as the founder of C8, a B2B e-payment company, to focus on raising her two young children and devoting time to  community  service.  As the president of the East Palo Alto Rotary club, Jenny is  committed to promoting literacy for underserved children and eliminating hunger for seniors.  Jenny also has been working to help young companies grow into profitable businesses.  Her latest project is establishing trade schools for auto mechanics in China. She is an advisor to HuanXin, whose Golden Wallet is China’s first mobile payment solution.  Jenny is the Chairman for HwaShinChineseSchool, a non-profit Chinese school operating in Palo Alto, California.  She is also a board director for Silicon Valley - China Wireless Technology Association.

Jenny worked as the vice president of Product Management for CyberCash until 2000 responsible for  product integrations, as well as   defining product requirements for the mobile wallet product.  In 1998 Jenny joined the founder of Tellan Software (an e-payment start-up) to run marketing and sales with P & L responsibilities.  She delivered in 18 months over 140% increase in revenues while expanded net margin from 21% to 30%.  Improved business metrics led to the M & A deal  with CyberCash resulting over 7x of return to investors.

Prior to Tellan, Jenny held various senior level marketing and business development positions at VeriFone.  She was responsible for driving the company’s wireless product strategy, which included defining the product strategy for the industry’s first SMS/payment transaction gateway launched  in 1997 as a pilot project  in South Africa .

Jenny started her career in software development.  She spent a number of years working as a member of the development team in the electronic funds transfer product group at  Telemoney, later acquired by First Data Corporation.  She later worked as a freelance software developer for Sytek .    Jenny also worked at Ungermann Bass as a senior product manager for the TCP/IP product line.  She was Director of Product Marketing at Motorola Computer Group Business Systems Division, where she pioneered the  marketing of  RISC-based multi-user computers as network servers supporting PCs and Macs.   She defined SNMP requirements for Altair, Motorola's wireless LAN product line. She also spent a couple of years working as Director of Marketing and Sales for OAZ Communications, a manufacturer of network fax client and server solutions.

Jenny holds an MBA degree in Business Management.

William Wittmeyer, CEO of eXS Inc

Mr. Wittmeyer has been active in telecommunication industry and technology investing since 1980. Initially he was with Exxon Enterprises and subsequently with W.R. Grace. Companies he invested in include: Intecom, Periphonics, N.E.T. Zoran, Microlinear, IXYS and UTStarcom.

Mr. Wittmeyer is the CEO of eXS Inc, a wireless access company that is focused on providing low cost broadband services in emerging markets, and the chief operating officer of Electronic Sensor Technologies Inc, a manufacturer of high speed gas chromatographs.

Mr Wittmeyer has a BS from the US Coast Guard Academy and an MBA from Columbia University.
