About This Event

Partnering in China is unavoidable.  Even companies that decide to create their own China business instead of entering a joint venture must work with some Chinese local partner in their supply chain or sales channels. Who a company partners with in China is arguably the most important factor on whether a company's China venture succeeds or fails. While smart executives do the proper due diligence and vet the potential partner, many still get tripped up by more subjective cultural factors such as "guanxi" or "face."

SVCWireless, Asia Society and NetBridge Global are hosting an event with a  diverse panel of China business experts to provide a comprehensive perspective on the most common pitfalls of partnering in China and basic steps to ensure success. Questions that will be posed and answered include:
  1. What are the typical pitfalls that U.S. companies fall into when dealing with their China partner?
  2. What are the options available for US companies to vet partners?
  3. What are some examples of "success" or "horror" stories caused by a partnership gone awry?
  4. What are the most common legal structures used in China, and which industries have additional regulatory requirements?
  5. What tips do you have for negotiating a partnership agreement?
