About This Event

Presentation #3: Mobile Medical Devices and mHealth: Strengths and Challenges.

This will be an interactive session discussing the trends, strengths and challenges in this revolutionary field of mobile medical devices and applications. This sector has grown exponentially in the past several years from a mere concept into a massive movement which represents the future of  health care.  In this session, we will discuss technical and non-technical issues that are unique to the sector. The presentation will be focused on Importance of Security (HIPPA, Hi-Tech, etc), Privacy and Knowledge of Clinical Landscape in mobile medical devices.


Speaker Biographies


Bryant Lin, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine


Stanford University, has over ten years of experience in medical device research, development and entrepreneurship.  He advises and has co-founded several medical technology start-ups and has ongoing projects in arrhythmia treatment, chronic disease management and surgery.  His work and background places him at the intersection of engineering, medicine and business.  After he finished his bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, he worked in management consulting.  Subsequently, he returned to academia completing his MD and Internal Medicine Residency at Tufts as well as two fellowships in Cardiovascular Research and Biodesign at Stanford.  An inveterate tinkerer, he has over ten patents issued or pending.  Dr. Lin is a Clinical Asst.Professor of Medicine at Stanford where he also treats patients and teaches.


Adam Lin,President, iHealth Labs, Inc.


Adam Lin is the President of iHealth Labs, the leading designer and developer of mobile health products. iHealth focuses on delivering easy-to-use products that empowers users to better understand their health and manage it more effectively. Parul Kapur,Co-Founder Neuro Ocean Solutions


Parul Kapur, JD, MS is a medical and health technology expert with a legal background. She has 10 years of cross-functional experience focusing in medical, health, wireless and software technologies. Most recently, she co-founded a business providing software, advisory and strategic solutions to health and medical companies. Previously, she worked with medical and health clients at Shay Glenn LLP, McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert Berghoff LLP and in her own Patent Practice. She has a JD from John Marshall Law School, a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Wright State University and a MS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and is a Registered Patent Agent.
