Strong growth in the PC and consumer electronics markets is driving better than expected performance in the semiconductor sector.   First half industry-wide sales during 2010 are up almost 50% over the comparable 2009 period.  Strong demand outside of the U.S. (particularly China and India) appears to support continued growth and profitability.  Against this market outlook, we are seeing improved investor confidence leading venture-backed and private sector companies to again look at public equity offerings for capital.   Four semiconductor IPOs have been completed so far this year, it is believed that another eight semiconductor companies have filed offering documents and are included in the backlog.  By contrast, only one semiconductor IPO was completed during 2009. Merger activity has also increased in the sector.

The semi market has been challenging for investors and management teams over the past 3 years, especially for early stage companies.   Are we in a period of recovery now?  How does this rosier outlook for semis affect investments in early and late stage semiconductor companies and what does it mean for the future of the industry in general?

Please join our distinguished panel of experts who will address the following topics:

  • What are the investment trends and aftermarket performance in the semiconductor industry?
  • What are the challenges and market barriers for U.S.-headquartered semiconductor companies?
  • Where is the next wave of innovation coming from in semiconductors?
  • What trends in Asia are affecting the industry?
  • Will U.S. venture capitalists continue to invest in semiconductors?  If so, when?
  • What other funding models and sources exist or will emerge?
