(to prevent reminders for this meeting, RSVP "no" below)
They are handsets, gadgets, phones, mobile Internet devices, smartbooks, tablets and a bunch of other new device categories, but they all represent the place where the wireless industry touches its customer. As the delivery vehicle, these devices are a critical part of EVERY industry stakeholder's value chain.
In recent years, new gadgets have proven the unique ability to actually churn customers away from competing carriers - making them more powerful than network quality, footprint, content, and services. As these gadgets become more powerful and consumers expectations rise, both carriers and CE manufacturers are in the hot seat to make better gadgets and improve the consumer experience.
As the mass market moves away from simple phones and into connected devices and gadgets, carriers and CE makers are forced to add Industrial Design and User Experience into the development lifecycle. The best designed products are made up of the best individual apps, modules, radios, keyboards, media players, processors, amplifiers, accessories, etc - put together in a beautifully integrated UI. So our Handset and Gadget Review will look at some of the final handsets, the best UIs, and the innovative soft and hard wares that make a great device really shine.
