Dear attendees,
Welcome to Mobile AlwaysOn, Silicon Valley – China Wireless Conference 2009!
The past year has been a very challenging one around the world. Companies, large and small, have found themselves at sea in an economic storm and having to navigate through rocks and shoals that threaten to sink them. The storm's intensity may have abated some, but strong winds and turbulent seas will remain with us. Storms such as the one we are in now cause havoc and in that havoc we find opportunity.
During this storm, the mobile/wireless industry continued to grow. The value of mobile broadband to business and consumers enabled this sector of the economy to grow strongly.
Rooted in the Silicon Valley, the success of Apple iPhone and AppStore is phenomenal and symbolic. With 30 million iPhone sold, 75,000 applications in-stock, and 1.8 billion apps downloaded till September 9, 2009, Apple has demonstrated part of the what the era of Mobile Internet will look like: Content and application focused, and user centric. The emergence of Google Android and the availability of iPhone's SDK further showed another key trend of mobile internet: Openness.
But the success of the mobile internet is only possible with the support of mobile broadband, where the connectivity provided by 3G networks should surely receive its share of recognition. Though coming later than US and Europe, China’s mega-scale 3G deployment has provided huge business opportunities for the entrepreneurs around the world. Not surprisingly, the application stores play essential roles in the plan of all of the big players in China.
And the mobile/wireless ecosystem does not stop there. Technologies have evolved so much that to wirelessly connect every object is no longer just a dream but a possibility. As one of the pioneering areas, to help the world grow greener, the smart grid emerges drastically, with the wireless connectivity as a critical component.
Today, we are moving toward a mobile/wireless ecosystem that keeps us always connected, no matter when, no mater where we are. But where is your position in the mobile ecosystem? How can you benefit from it? Come to join our conference, the perfect place to meet with industrial experts, and discover your opportunity in the mobile ecosystem. You will find your time spent worthy.
Last but not the least, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our organizing committee and volunteers. It is their endless hard work that makes this conference possible.
Best wishes and good luck,
Yuan Tian
President 2009
